I am a Detroit-born, Portland-based art director, graphic designer, and illustrator.
I started my design career while attending Parsons School of Design in New York City and I have spent the majority of my career as a creative freelancer and entrepreneur. I’ve had a life-long penchant for bright colors, patterns, and collage. This quickly (and unexpectedly) led to my finding a niche in the entertainment, publishing, and retail design industries. To this day, I impress no one with my stories of the one-hit wonders for whom I designed album covers and tour shirts.
I soon longed for more opportunities to hike and bike and camp, and I arrived in San Francisco just as the first dot-com boom was booming. I got into web design, branding, and contracting with in-house art departments at large technology companies. I was really, really good at combining hand-drawn elements with Flash animation and I kept a ranked list of the best employee cafeterias.
All the while, I kept a roster of my most favorite clients— a list of creative directors who made me their go-to resource for smart typography, playful layouts and meticulous craftsmanship. Keeping a foot in the type of work for which I am most passionate made me resilient to the dot-com bust that inevitably followed.
I am a folksy, Midwestern gal who can tap into a youthful exuberance when projects require it but still be very professional and unfazed by difficulties and set backs. Many years honing my craft has made what I do intuitive; however, I never tire of learning my clients’ stories and approaching creative challenges in ways that best help them achieve their strategic and creative goals.
I am now based in beautiful Portland, Oregon, but I work with clients everywhere. If you are ready to kick a creative project into high gear— or if you just want to say hello— drop me a line.
